Hello
Does anyone have a scrub plane collecting dust in their shop they would part with?
Looking for stanley, sargent, or lee valley model.
Thanks
Mike

hi mike,
if you get an extra blade for, say, a stanley smoother and re-sharpen the blade with a camber to it, it will function as a scrubber. are you planning to surface/thickness your own?

Make a wooden one, it's cheap and will work better

Forget about buying a metal scrub plane. These are easy to make via the Krenov method. I've made two and they both out perform their metal counterparts. I've attached a jpg of the plan I made for my scrub planes. I use a Lie-Nielsen scrub plane iron in it. This is an easy weekend or two night project that can be made out of any hardwood scraps.
If you use Windows you should be able to right click on the picture and save it to your computer. Print to standard letter size paper and you should get a full sized printed plan. Print two copies. Cut out the patterns for the knob and tote from one copy and then the cheek pattern from the other copy. Use a rasp or router to shape the tote prior to glue up. Shape the knob after glue up.
