Hi all,
I am currently making a dinning table for a client.
I have recently seen someone use a sort of scrubed finish on a table top which I was trying to immetate. What I’ve done is raised the grain by ironing a damp rag across the surface and then scrubed the damp area with a coars wire brush to remove the softer grain. It gives a lovely rustic finish.
It is the final finish where I’m getting stuck. I would like to keep the wonderfully raised grain but want to get it soft to the touch. My first reaction was to wire wool it back but the Wire wool kept getting caught in the grain and needs to be brushed back out with a wire brush.
I have a few other things I may try, but any suggestions would be much appreciated. Pictures and results of this finish shortly.

I forgot to mention. for a really rustic feel I have tried scrubing and finishing a piece straight of the band saw.
Quite a spectacular look!
