Charlie,

Charlie,
It's been several years now - I've bought shellac aerosol spray at Home Depot. I can't remember if it was Sealcoat brand. It worked just fine for me, but I've had a lot of experience spraying shellac.

I've never seen the dewaxed
I've never seen the dewaxed sealcoat that the article talks about in aerosol cans - I use it regularly and would have noticed if it was in aerosol. I think that the author was thinking of the blonde Shellac with wax in aerosol by Zissner and was mistaken. On the other hand I did no looking around at the Zissner site if there is one.
I don't think that can of
I don't think that can of shellac in the picture is SealCoat. It looks just like the can of spray shellac in my shop, and that is not identified as SealCoat or as dewaxed, IIRC. That can is Zinnser, of course.
Just about every place that sells liquid shellac sells the aerosol. It doesn't say seal coat on it, but it is dewaxed, and has been so even before seal coat was released as a separate product. If it's by Zinsser, and in a spray can it's the stuff you want.
According to Zinsser the sealcoat does not come in aerosol. the article was incorrect. BUT -
I went to the shop and read the can, the aerosol can pictured in the article is 100% dewaxed. I don't know why they wouldn't put that on the front of the can but there ya go. It can be used as the article states.
EDIT: did more research and changed my mind. and post.
Zinsser Spray Can shellac is the same color and is totally dewaxed. It's not labeled as "SealCoat" but it essentially is identical to SealCoat.
The spray can shellac is thinner than standard SealCoat so more coats are needed to get the same film thickness.
