Hey Folks, I recently finished 4 cabinet doors with flat panels made from 1/4″ riff-sawn red oak plywood. My problem is that the rails and stiles made from quarter-sawn red oak look fine after 3 coats of sprayed on poly but the plywood keeps drinking it up and still needs more. Is there a way to seal the plywood before the finish coats of poly? Thanks, I am going to be doing a 17 door job in the next few weeks and don’t want to be in the spray booth all spring.

Use shellac first to seal. Dries quick, seals great.
