Searching for Carriage door hardware (real carriage doors)
I’m in the process of building a garage with carriage doors as per the ‘Tool and Shops’ annual issue from Winter 2010/11. Its the one with the red carriage doors on the cover, the article is by Michael Pekovich.
In the configuration of my garage it would be very helpful if I could enter and lock the primary carriage door with latch/handle that does the job. The secondary door can be fastened in place with cane bolts, but I’m a bit stumped on the hardware that would be best for the primary door.
Any ideas?

Conventional?
Conventional passage door latches would do fine. Backset (edge of door to center of knob/lever pivot/key cylinder) may be an issue - I do not know what the doors you reference look like.
Rocky Mountain makes excellent quality with good durable finishes, and as secure as anything. You can select the backplates and levers/knobs and finishes and either bore type latches or mortise locks.
Use a t-astragal at the meeting stiles, with a conventional strike plate, and all will work fine.
Of course, the hinges are where it's at for carriage house doors. Don't forget tight pin or security pin type hinges.
