I have found that searching online here is less than perfect. Question: is searching the USB file any better? Can you really do text searches that cover every word?
And then if I get the USB does anyone want my old mags?

Due to past legal outcomes, certain material has been permanently removed from the online search. I don’t have a USB or CD, but I would presume all up to date past issues included on that media are bonafide. Overall, I think FWW’s online search heuristics could be greatly improved.
The Luddite in me has decided to keep all the magazines..
The site search is always a work in progress, and it has gotten a lot better of the past year or so.
I use it very often but when it comes up short I use the online magazine index here: https://www.finewoodworking.com/magazine-index
This is a fantastic search that is driven by input from editorial. The downside is that it only searches articles in the magazine.
Yes, the USB and online archive search allow you to search word by word.
