Seattle area Powermatic/Performax
Who was it that was looking for a good jointer in the Seattle area?? My brain is fried, can’t remember. There are several Powermatic tools, including a jointer, and a Performax on the Kitsap Craig’s List today.

It was me, my friend. :)
I'm also looking for a lathe, just big enough to make chisel handles.
I've been watching King, Snohomish and Pierce Craig's Lists religiously, but the market seems to be about 50% above what I want to pay.
I see both decent lathes and jointers every day, but they're all above $200. People are way too proud of their old equipment...
I guess I'm looking for the steal, or the rusted, abandoned piece of "junk" that no one remembers what it is anymore. I'll be happy to haul it away, as long as the beds are reasonably flat on the jointer, and the ways are reasonably straight on the lathe.
(Actually, I'm not certain that's what I should be looking at on the lathe, I don't know anything about the Dark Side.)
A lathe under $200 isn't going to be much of a lathe, me fears. Push it up $25- $50 and you'll get a decent Jet 1236 like mine. The jointer might be more of a possibility, but just barely. There's a Jet JJ-6CS packaged with a DC-650 dust collector in Poulsbo right now, $400 for the both of 'em. That's about 15 minutes from where I live. You really should consider putting Kitsap on your check-list. It's not that big of a ferry ride for the right tool. I've picked up a couple of good deals in Hansville, which is about 25 minutes from where I live.
PS: Have you looked at the price of anew lathes these days? Makes $250 look pretty decent!
