Hi, i have a security issue with my dado saw, last week i make a dado of 3/4″ with the saw and the nut on the shaft of the table saw has been unwind when when i stop the saw.
The dado saw has been ejected in the cabinet, no injuries but now i am affraid to use the dado saw (i buy a new one).
It seem to have occur because i have used some shim and the nuts where not enough screwed
Do you have a trick to avoid that, i have think to buy a new nut and use two nut screwed together instead of only one.
Do you have other idea?
Thank

Are you using the correct arbor? The rotation direction of the arbor should naturally tighten the nut so that even if it is loose, turning on the saw would not spin it off the arbor. Mine are left hand threads.
Does the nut tighten on the dado arbor the same rotational direction as on your standard blade arbor?

Are you using a stacked dado? I do not know a lot about what is out there, but normally shims would not have to be used for 3/4 cuts. If you are having to use shims, put them on just just after the first cutter and while the there is some unthreaded arbor shaft left. Also, is it possible that you did not stagger the teeth so that the plates are flush. If you start to tighten, you can tell because once the nut pulls the blades together, there is just a little more before the nut gets quite tight. If it feels like it is giving, check ther orientation of the teeth.
sometimes you can leave off the flange or washer that goes under the nut when you need more arbor room for the dado .
Did you have the rotation of the teeth correct ?

Yes the rotation is correct, but this occur when the saw is stopping, the nut unwind
The motor brake in your saw is trying to slow down the spinning mass of the dado set. The inertia of the dado is loosening the nut. You have to be sure that you have the nut fully tightened. What saw do you have? What dado do you have? How do you have the dado set up? Do you have any washers between the dado blades and the arbor? Any washers between the dado and the arbor nut?Howie.........
Sometimes, shims get caught in the threads of the arbor. Even though you tighten the nut, it doesn't seat all the way. There aren't too many saws that have an electric brake, even so, it should not loosen a properly tightened nut. How are you tightening it? You will need to leave off the outside collar with most arbors when using 3/4" stacked dadoes.
Beat it to fit / Paint it to match
