I am looking to upgrade from my Sears Craftsman 1′ x 2.5′ router table and looking for suggestions. I have a small home shop and build smaller projects of tables and cabinets. Would like to be able to make raised panels. Thanks.

Spend the money on a good router book and make your own router table. Go to Barnes and Noble or some such bookstore or even the links here or amazon.com. Making your own accessories is the best practice to be a better woodworker in my experience.

I'm thinking of a book - believe its simply called Woodworking with the Router, red cover, that has plans for a router table in it which are pretty good plans. I've built a couple of them, and even the one Norm made on his oft talked about show seems virtually identical. I did not like the height, so I added about 10" to it, but the plans were easy. I definately vote for making your own. Cheaper, gratifying, and you can tailor it to any personal preferences you might have. The Rousseau baseplate works very well. I have noticed radical cost differences between various outlets. A good price on it would be around $35. Have seen it up as high as 60. The face mounted switch I think ought to be push button rather than just a light switch type. Too easy to walk by and kick things on.
I was gratified to be able to answer promptly, and I did. I said I didn't know.
Thanks for your comments and suggestions. It looks unanimous. I'll buy the book and build it myself.

Agree with rick and RW. Build it. You'll save money and can employ features as you wish, not as someone has determined is good for your needs. You'll be glad you did and you will end up with a better result than most commercial tables and fences..
Good luck..

Are those two things clamped on the fence feather boards? If so, aren't they backwards?

Correct on home-made feather-boards and correct on they are a-s backwards. Ha... I was taking some pictures and hurriedly set them up. Did not even notice till the pics came back. I was going in six directions at once trying to beat the sun and light factor.
You get a two points for a safety on that alert observation..
Have a good day and congratulations...grin<>

Thanks for the confirmation and the inspiration. That looks like a nice table you've built.
