I am interested in a scroll saw, primarily for marquetrywork. While I have heard good things about the Hegner variable-speedsaws, I don’t know a lot about the many other brands.
I would be interested in feedback, user experiences, or recommendations from anyone who owns or uses a scroll saw.
Tnanks in advance!

As a general rule, the experts on this site aren't supposed to give opinions on specific brands of tools unless they have done one of the major tool reviews on the type of tool being asked about. Also, to be fair to the manufacturers, unless someone has worked with all of the tools side by side they really wouldn't have the knowledge to make a fair, unbiased, judgement.
You would be better off, in this case, to post your question on the regular Knots discussion site, you'll probably get some useful responses from people with a lot of marquetry experience.
I am almost positive that FWW has not done a review of scroll saws in quite awhile.

Thanks, Jon. I will do just that.

Dear JZens,
One of the country's foremost marquetry artisans, Paul Schurch, did an article for FineWoodworking not long ago on how to choose a scroll saw:

You can also go to our Tool Guide for reviews of individual saws, some with user reviews that may be helpful. Here's a link:

Good luck,

Greetings, David:
Thanks for the info.
You're not a Wisconsin boy, are you?

No, Denver's my hometown. However, I've driven through Wisconsin numerous times en route to my wife's hometown of Minneapolis. Been to Spring Green, the Dells, Whitewater. Nice place, Wisconsin.
