I’m looking for any design ideas or pictures of coffee tables made to be a shadowbox or display case under the glass top. I know it wouldn’t be too difficult but wondering if anyone out there has done one. Inspiration is what I’m after. Also, about how thick of glass do you think is app. for a coffee table, I was thinking 3/8.
thanks,

Not very fancy, but I made a pair a few years ago. http://www.stephanwoodworking.com click the "Desks and Tables" link and then the ash display case link. Top was likely secured to the apron sides with wooden buttons described in a recent FWW article by C. Beeksvort (sp?). The tables are short at the cusomter's request.
Don't remember glass thickness, but it was whatever the glass shop suggested. After the tops were finished I simply dropped them off at the glass shop so measuring errors were their concern.
