Hi my name is Bryan. And I downloaded the plains for the sheker chimney cabinet. well I am working on the doors. Well it said they should be 12& 1/2 in wide. But this is the part I dont get. the bottom rail should be 11 in long and 2in wide. the stile is 27in long and 2in wide.now so I cutt the rail 11in long and the tenons are 1in long that makes the tenon 9in edge to edge. then when I dry fit it its 13in long . how is that. thank for any help I can get.Bryan

Oh yea, and I'am not sure how to get to everyones commens. WOW it a bad day. ya think iam new to this site or what lol. well I should laugh ,cant get anything done thats for sure. thanks again Bryan
Bryan, it's fairly simple to check plans or to do your own. Take a large piece of paper, a piece of plywood, a stick or whatever you have. If you know the size of something, like your door, say it's 12 1/2" wide, make two lines at that measurement. If you want the stiles to be 2" wide, move in from those first lines and make two more marks at 2". If you want the tenons to be 1" long, measure back from the 2" stile marks, 1" and make a dotted line. On this example, the math is pretty simple as long as you make your cuts accurately but on other projects, some things can get more complicated. By having a full scale layout drawing to refer to, you can often just lay the pieces up to match what you have drawn or take measurements off it.
