I’m building “Tom’s Torsion Box Workbench” and have gotten to the stage where I am building the Front, which includes the innovative use of a handscrew clamp as the tail vise.
Problem is, I just realized it’s going to take a couple weeks to get the 12″ clamp from Jorgensen, and I don’t want to wait that long to build the front. I can get a smaller version of the clamp at my local Home Depot and was wondering if the only difference is the length of the clamp. If so, I could use the smaller one to lay out the spot for the clamp in the front, and install the 12″ clamp when it arrives.
So, my question: do all Jorgensen handclamps have the same basic dimensions, except for the length of the clamps? i.e. width of the jaw pieces, angle of the cutaway, etc? so that if I lay out the front with a small clamp, the large one will fit?
Thanks for any info.

Nevermind! I found a place nearby that carried a range of these clamps, including the 12"-er.
The answer to my question was 'No'. Not even close!
