I have a Rockwell shaper that I got a good deal on. It didn’t come with a fence. I’ve looked at purchasing a Delta part but wonder if for the same or less money I could make one. Can anyone help me with plans to build a fence for my shaper? Thank you for your time.

There's a Rockwell/Delta shaper fence up for auction at ebay right now...

John, thanks for the heads up, I've been watching e-bay for awhile and they tend to sell high there, hence my desire to make one. Appreciate your thoughtfulness, have a great day. Regards, Ed.
Eddie,
I bought a book of Jigs when I first started and one of the first things I made was a table saw fense from that book. The key to the design was a one inch steel tube that was attached about an inch away (with spacers) from the edge of the table. The actual fense is a big T-square and is made with a piece of bed frame stock attached (perpendicular) to a 12" piece of 1/4 in 2x2 L stock. I use a nuts and bolts to position the fense over the steel tube and a hold down thingy to apply pressure and keep it in a fixed position. It actually works well.....
Anxious to throw out all tht crap and get myself a unisaw...sigh...
I have acually used the fence off my router table more than once on my shaper. It is based on the design of the ultimate router table in the tools issue of FW last year. I also made one that was designed around a 4"x6" piece of 1/4" aluminum box that bolted directly to the table and had separately adjustable fences like the larger Deltas. It was an experience to build and served quite well while I had that shaper. I have a newer and bigger Delta now with their fence and at least once in a while I do miss the the fence I built. Good luck Joe
Advise me of the model # of your shaper, the hp and spindle size and the s/n. I may have a shaper fence that is adjustable that might fit your machine at a good price. I use this fence on my router table that my students make. The fence has a dust port for a 2-1/2" hose (flex) and is fully adjustable on each side. It is affordable at $145 plus UPS. Let me know. Bill, I have a Rockwell Heavy Duty Wood Shaper, model No. 43-340. Let me know what you come up with and thanks. Regards, Ed.
Missed the following, 1.5 HP and both 1/2 and 3/4 inch spindles. Ser. No. E M 7799.
The fence I have available: the hold down screws for the fence to your table are 11-3/4 on center and will adjust 3-1/8" from front to back. It has a 2-1/2" dust collector attachment, adjustable infeed and outfeed fences and might work on your machine. Your machine was made around 1972 according to my records. If it will work, the cost is $150 to you including frgt. It is all cast iron with a hardwood face. Let me know.

Two eddies on the forum, how can that be??
message "shaper fence" on the forum posted 10 August by Bill must be for you.
Cheers, eddie
Did you receive the photos of the shaper fence??? Please let me know. Bill
Eddie, take it from an old woodworker, the original fence and all shaper fences are good for door stops. Save a bunch and make your own out of solid lumber.
Would you happen to have any plans or sketches for ideas? I'm pretty handy and just need some ideas to start the project. Thanks for responding. Eddie.
Eddie,
Just start with a 6" cube box to attach your dust collection to, add a pair of wings off the bottom of the cube to extend to the 27" width of shaper table, then add a 6" X 27" face to the unit for your fence Sometimes you need to shave off a 32nd of an inch from the infeed side to create a jointer effect for certain cutters. Later, Tom
