I have a Yates American J-151 shaper which is missing the 34″ removable spindle
the part # is 5043, anyone know where i can find one. The manufacturer and
distributor say no way,too old. thanks

You can either look for a parts machine which may take a while, or find a local machine shop which would be able to make one for you. Do you know the dimensions?
i have the 12' spindle so i know the taper needed to seat into the cone of the main
spindle, i think i would need about 3.5- 4" of spindle under the nut. I have the
connections to have a machine shop do the work but i am trying to go with an
existing spindle first.
If the taper is #2 morse,you might be able to use a sanding spindle from Freeman Supply Co.
They have spindles in several diameters and lengths.
