Anyone have any experience with both the Pro Series and the GlassStones from Shapton? My sharpening deals with mostly A-2 steel and I am curious about these two methods.

Oddly enough I do. I have a 2k grit Pro Series and a 6k grit Glasstone. Obviously the grits are different so it's hard to do an apples-to-apples comparison, but they both work fine. I use them only honing, so I can't say how the two kinds would differ when shaping the bevel. For that I use sandpaper.
I did not get the fancy lapping system for the Shaptons, though. Not sure if that will affect the performance of the Glasstone downt he road.
I really like the storage case the Pro Series stones come with. I wish the Glasstones had something like that. The Glasstones do fit nicely in the holding section on the Pro Series case-a nice feature.
Maybe someday I'll know a little something.
