Hello all,
I have been using sketchup exclusively for half a year now and am never going back to other cad programs. It has been very helpful and as I get better, it becomes even more useful in the shop. I read design.click.build as often as I can. Thanks to those guys for educating me on the program. It has been so helpful.
My only (significant) problem is that when I finish up a drawing, and go to print it, the drawing often looks low-definition. It is usually when I zoom out to get a whole set of cabinets that the lines are all broken up or don’t even show at all. I have tried to soften the edges but that doesn’t seem to help. I was wondering if line weights would matter? If so, is that something that I can easily modify after everything has been drawn?
It’s not a big deal except that I want to have these drawing looking sharp when I show them to a client. I also hope to get some of the drawings on postcards or brochures to market my business.
Any suggestion would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks!
Justin

Here is the drawing that was giving me trouble. It's not the worst, but if I compare it to some of the drawings that get posted over on the blog, it looks crappy.
As Jamie indicated, if you are doing a 2D export, you can set the resolution before exporting. Click on the Options button to open the dialog box for the settings. Set the width to 3000 or so pixels. Also, export the 2D image as PNG instead of JPG. No compression that way. Be aware that high resolution exports take longer. Make sure that you set the resolution back to screen res if you don't need the high res for printing.
Also, as has been said, if you are printing directly, you can adjust the print quality to Ultra High Definition and so on.
The benefit of exporting a 2D image is that you can edit that image for cropping and so on before adding it to your document.

Are you printing directly from SU, or exporting to 2D first? If you're exporting to 2D, you may be not using enough pixels. Someplace there's a panel which allows you to specify the resolution of the jpeg. Try more pixels and see if that helps.
When you select File|Print, the dialog box that opens up lists some print quality options in the lower right corner. Try experimenting with those, including possibly checking the "Use high accuracy HLR" checkbox, to find a setting that works for your needs.
