I want to sharpen my chisels, blades and knives on a marble slab. Can anyone help me with a source for the compounds in different grits? I understand they come in powder form. Thank you.

Scout, Marble is too soft for what you have in mind.It will wear quickly and lose it's flatness. You can use the marble but use silicone carbide sandpaper instead of compounds

Thank you. I meant to say granite. I'll try your suggestion. Thank you for the input
Marble is very soft, it will wear into a hollow very quickly. Glass or granite are the usual substrate for sharpening with abrasive grit. Using fine to superfine sandpapers on a backing is a lot less messy and just as effective.

Thank you. I meant to say granite. I like the idea of less messy and the paper. Appreciate the input.
You might try these people for the SC abrasive.

Also, to be used dry only, htey have excellent pricing on ZA paper in finer grits, by Norton. The 220 lapps quite fast.
Thank you. Went to web site and just what I'm looking for. Bob
