Sharpening planer blades on 12 1/2 Delta planer
I am wondering if anyone sharpens or has these blades sharpened? At $25 a set it seems a shame to toss them. My planer is a Delta 12.5″ that has planed 1000+ bd ft of rough lumber, great machine.

Hi Bug
I have had similar blades sharpened quite a few times by a friend that has the necessary gear and they were as good as new. The sharpening jobs were freebies (mates rates) and I'm not sure how much it would cost otherwise. At $x per inch I imagine that 25 times that it could prove quite expensive and new ones could be better value.

Actually, I took them to my local sharpening guy, and he did 2 sets (4 blades) for $10. I probably owe him some beer!
Sounds like good value, how did they turn out? I guess thats the proof of the pudding.
