Good Morning,
I have an old 1930s early 40s Disston backsaw and I need to get it sharpened. After reviewing some articles about sharpening saws I determined I don’t have time to learn before finishing some ongoing projects that don’t require the saw.
I am looking for a reliable, established sharpening service for this and eventually other hand saws.
Thanks, TWG

TWG,
I had a #4 recut and sharpened recently at Cooke's in York, PA. They did a very good job, charged me ~$20, and had it back to me in less than a week (I live outside Philadelphia, so it was not too far to ship). Highly recommended.

Thanks to both of you. I had heard the name Cooke's before but I couldn't remember what they did. I'm only a couple hours from York, maybe I should visit and drop some saws off.
I think the Co. that sells General Machinery is also in York, but that is for the Power Tools area.

TW,
Yep, Wilke (Will'-Kee) Machinery. Their two brands are Bridgewood (the higher end) and Yorkcraft (Delta for about 2/3s the price).
Wilke is a hidden gem. And, great customer service.
I bought my General tablesaw from them a number of years ago. If you come up to Cook's, you'll be about 10 to 12 minutes from Wilke, just north of York off I-83.

TW,
Glaucon stole my thunder. Cook's is great. He even has what he calls his Disston "museum." One of almost every saw Disston made.
He sharpens saws from all over the nation, and some from overseas. I live outside of Hershey and have had him sharpen several of mine.
