Does anyone know what the shelf life of boiled linseed oil is? Is there an information source about commonly used woodworking finish?
Thank you.

I’ve had some for well over 5 years. Like 7? And it’s fine. It definitely got thicker but I used some on a piece of scrap no issues.
As long as not cloudy or gummy, I’d recommend trying a piece of scrap and go from there. Same applies to tung oil too.
I think there is I don't know how long. I remember a bottle of Tung Oil completely turned to goo.
I just used some that has been opened a few years to recoat my MDF assembly table. I mixed it with equal parts naphtha and polyU. 3 days and still sticky.................
I thought it goes bad from exposure to oxygen. I had an open gallon container that I poured into smaller pint-sized containers with no air space and they haven't gelled over yet, after a few years.
Thank you everyone! I, of course, searched this on the site after I posed the question. The answer I found was that it BLO will stay usable indefinitely. As you folks have posted it's easy to spot when it goes south. I had no issues with material in my 1/2 full gallon that's 8 years old. Thank you all again! Happy new year.
