My wife would like to try shellacing and mix her own shellac. What are some good sources for the chips?
Thanks

848-824 1 lb Buttonlac $18.99
848-831 1 lb Garnetlac $27.99
848-838 1 lb Orange $17.99
848-845 1 lb Super blonde $22.99

Whether you think you can, or you think you can't, you're right.
http://www.Woodfinishingsupplies.com Run by Russ Ramirez. More selection. Better prices. Online ordering. Unlike Homestead, you don't have to call on the phone. Wide selection of solvents and other stuff. Half the prices you quoted in many cases.
Homestead Finishing owned by Jeff Jewett has about the broadest selection of shellac flakes that I've seen and at least the last time I ordered he had the lowest prices as well. And if you have any questions or need advice he is very willing to pass on his expertise.
Thanks. Homestead looks like a winner to me. I have been to the other site and do not like it. It is way to confusing to get around.
I got Jeff's book this afternoon at B&N. Now I have something to read tonight.

I purchase all of my finishing supplies from Jeff at Homestead Finishing. He does have the best prices and the best quality of everything. For finishing, he has TONS of articles on his website and also has an unbelievable "finishing" forum. I second that vote for Homestead Finishing.
Cheers!

I read his book yesterday and today and KNOW it will be a huge help. I think I will stick with him.Kevin Arceneaux

Really, no fooling.
I've purchased from them and have gotten good service and good products. They have a sample package that is a great to way to see what different shellac looks like.
