Im using blond dewaxed shellac flakes and made up a batch of 2 oz of flakes to 8 oz of alcohol for a 2 pound cut of a small batch. I have made 8 other batches this same exact way and they turned out fine. With this batch the flakes didnt dissolve. I did agitate the jar for 2 hours just like before. The consistency I get is the flakes partially stay as flakes and they also look and feel like they are a jell or jelly like consistency and i dont get much of a liquid pour off. Mystified thanks for your help.

How old were the flakes, and how were they stored between now and the last time you mixed shellac successfully from the same question.? Same questions for the denatured alcohol? Those are the possible culprits to track down/.
If the flakes or alcohol haven't been contaminated by absorbing moisture, it could be temperature. Temps should be above 60. You should pulverize the flakes before mixing.
