Looking for some help w/ shelving spans. Can’t get the sagulator link at woodbin to work. Can anyone direct me to info on various shelving materials and the span they can cover? I found one for mdf and pb but can’t find the wood ratios. I’m looking to go 48″ w/ an eleven or twelve inch wide board, 3/4″ thick (if possible). Plan to paint the whole thing so I don’t need fancy stuff. I could go 24″ twice if needed. Oh yes, this is for a unit affixed to the wall, not freestanding.
much thanks, jho

The sagulator link just worked for me. I'd run the query for you, but need wood species. Maybe you could try again.

Thanks a lot. I got the sagulator link to work. Must be my goofy computer!

Nah, it was off the air for a while last night. I tried it a couple of times right after you posted and I couldn't get in either.
PS: The span they can cover depends on the load they're carrying. How many pounds??

I just ran the number for yellow poplar (excellent for painting). Deflection was .06 for 12" and .07 for 11" with a 30-pound load.
