Hello,
I am looking for an air purifier for my basement shop. Could anyone tell me what size of filter is small enough for fine dust (1, 5 10 microns?)
Thanks
Paul

GO BIG OR GO HOME, since you are home...I use a 3M filter for allergans when doing work in my or other homes, many articles out there on making 'box with fan and furnace filter' filtration units. Look to Delta, Rigid, Busy Bee and Shop Vac for portable units, most have additional levels of filtration optional.
Make your own, Amazon sells a 14" high velocity fan for 20.00,great deal. HD sells a electrostatic 3 tenths of a micron washable filter for 19.00. Also buy a 3.00 fiber glass prefilter, I use 16 by 20 inch size. Take some 1 by 3 pine and make a 1-1/2" dado 3/8 deep around the two filters. Screw one side for cleaning of the filters. Then use 1/2 ply to make a box to hold the fan and filters. Cut a 14" hole for the blades. I threw away the switch and fan cage, used 3/4 metal strapping to secure the fan inside the box. Factory built units with this much CFP will costs 600.00 and the custom filters 50.00 or more. I think factory units use 3 micron filters, not as good for you.
