I’m getting ready to build a new shop in Florida. I’ll be putting up a new outside building on flat ground.
My dilema is should I do a concrete slab on grade or an elevated wood floor on joist.
I’m concerned with moisture problems using from one system vs. the other.
Anyone with experience?

Ron, a slab with vapor barrier will be as dry as anything else. A wood joist floor is easier on your legs but prone to insect issues. Its a tough choice..... aloha, mike
Ron,
Read the other shop floor thread for more information. Moisture barrier under a slab with Blandex or Advantec on the slab.
Just my experience.
Hi Ron
I would go with a raised floor about 4' or so, whatever the height of a loading dock. This will not only lower your shipping cost for freight deliveries (it is now considered by the carrier as a comerical site), but you can also drop all of your dust collection down through the floor. You would not believe how nice it is not to have all that overhead duct work in the way when you are moving around long stock.

There is nothing like a wood floor, both for comfort and aesthitics

Thank you all for your input. I have additional things to think about when I am ready to build.
