Sold my 25 year old Sears 14″ bandsaw yesterday so today I went to buy a Delta 14″ 1 hp, enclosed stand type or jet equivelent. The local store had a Delta, Jet, and a Shop Fox. After looking at them, there is very little difference and the price was all within $50.00. Needless to say I ended up with the shop fox. It had ball bearing guides instead of cool blocks, it came with a fence and miter gage. The only thing I am concerned with is the fact that the pulleys are located inside the saw case. The table is 14″ sq, instead of 15″ sq. Once I got it home it went together with no problems, every thing went together as shown, took 1-1/2hrs. Installed the fence rails and adjusted the fence for parallism. Turned it on and cut several pieces and it appears to run very smooth with little or no vibration. Used the fence to rip several pieces and it did better than I expected, no blade drift and the piece was right on in width. So now I want to hear what is wrong with the Shop Fox. I have never heard anything good or bad. I would like to hear comments from you that own one. Probably should have asked first but I needed a band saw now as I am in the middle of a client’s project.

So now I want to hear what is wrong with the Shop Fox...
Well for starters.... NA! If you are happy with it.. ALL THAT COUNTS.. I have a 18" RICON and love it...
Anyway.. I think the blades are more important than the saw.. Well, almost...
I am concerned with is the fact that the pulleys are located inside the saw case???
Sure hope they are! Ever see what happens if a blade breaks?.. You will be glad the pulleys are inside somethin! Although not sure what pullies you speakin' of... I was thinkin' of the blade drive wheels... Have FUN with your new saw!
