I see on Grizzly’s website they have a big sale on just about everything. Anyone have experience with Shop Fox? They have an 8” parallel jointer with helical head for less than $2,000. Sure beats a Powermatic at twice the price.

I have an oscillating spindle sander from them. It's probably 15 years old now and has been a good machine.
I have a 6" jointer and a 12"planer from Grizzly. Dropped a Byrd helical head in the jointer. The machines are over 20 years old. No problems. The Byrd head costs as much as the jointer. Buy it with it already in there.
I have this jointer and I like it, its a Craftex, Gryzzly clone for Canada, Shopfox is the same machine. If you can get the model with a flat belt it would be an improvement over the V-belt mine came with.
The one I have is actually like the Gryzzly with the 40 inserts spiral head ($1525), not sure one can tell the difference with the ShopFox 36 inserts hélicoïdal.
I have an 8 inch jointer a 15 inch planer and a disc/spindle sander from Grizzly. All have been reliable and accurate. They can reduce the price because you buy direct from them no middle-man. Also their finish may not be as good as others but their machines perform very well.
Any of you guys ever have to order a part for your Grizzly machines? See this thread: https://www.finewoodworking.com/forum/how-can-they-do-that
Were you able to get the part(s)?
I'm an almost all hand tools guy at this point, but I started out with a bunch of delta tools for the most part because it was kind of dominant around here.
Parts were NLA for one of my tools before I ever bought it because one of them was a common failure and the stock of replacement parts ran out late in the run and was never refreshed. 12 or 14 years on now after I threw out a delta planer, I can get a retainer bar that I couldn't get back then, but not sure that it's anything but parts being stripped from older machines or found in someone's inventory. Not many listed.
Same goes for the kitchen oven - 15 years old, door glass broke (GE), new part NLA and glass came from an aftermarket guy who was parting out used ovens.
Good luck on anything that you get that isn't going to have a big demand for parts because it's industrial level and the industrial customers won't put up with machines being down, and at the same time will pay whatever the part supply cost is after the third buyer for the company marks up the "value add" for service for the sixth time.
I have had a 6” Grizzly and upgraded to an 8” Grizzly that I bought used (vintage 2000 machine) and I love both. Accurate, easy to set up and parts support is Amazing!!! Absolutely no regrets with Grizzly tools, good deals can typically be found on used tools on FB marketplace!
I purchased the 8in parallelogram jointer. Hard to pass up a $900 dollar savings. Upgrading from a 6 inch jet, arrives on monday, can't wait.
