I have a 6HP stainless canister Shop Vac (brand) where the filter plugs after 2 minutes of use and to fill the tank the filter has to be cleaned at least 4-5 times.
I did e-mail the company and got a reply “I should contact the Canadian office”, which they gave me an e-mail that does not exist. I should have kept my old Sears which worked fine for 10 years.
Any ideas? as I can only find one type of filter replacement (pleated paper).

Lowes carries 3 different filters, at least my local store does. What are you doing with your shop vac that's clogging the filter? Dried grout is the only thing that I've had problems with. Most of the time I'm sucking up sawdust without issue.
Any ideas?
I got a 20 foot hunk of hose.. Stuck it on the BLOW port and took the filter off and stuck the hose outside!
use a bag
I've got two Shop Vacs- use the appropiate filter bag/filter and there shouldn't be any problem.
Take a worn, (read thin) sheet or a couple of folds of cheese cloth and lay it over the can. Set the power head part over that, lock down and go.

Thanks Joe
Had some cheese cloth in house, works great, when the suction slows down a tap on the side of the cannister drops the fine sawdust. I do a lot of cedar and the oils in the wood seems to stick to the pleated filter without protection.
Thanks John
