Shopping Spree, slightly used Grizzly stuff!
Although I’ve always been skeptical about Grizzly products I’m not having any buyer’s remorse after getting everything tuned up and running.
I was just after a table saw but found this package deal on CL. Everything was in new condition about three years old, 220v, single phase. all came with cabinet stands and mobile bases( I don’t need the mobile bases).
10″ cabinet TS w/ 3hp, long extension rails and Shop Fox fence, router table extension wing
8″ long bed jointer.3hp
17″ band saw 2hp
15″ planer 3hp
21″ heavy duty drill press,2hp 120v
2 hp dust collector with pleated filter and cyclone separator gadget for garbage can plus lots of pipe, blast gates and fittings.
All for $3500, not the deal of the century but a heck of a lot or iron for the money and considerably less than new.
Comments: Table saw: smooth, quiet, solid, good dust collection, powerful. Shop Fox fence: easy to adjust, accurate but too heavy, a little hard to slide even after cleaning and waxing. It’s very long, I might cut it down. I”ll use it for a while first.
Band saw: after installing new blade which was easy, this saw is a joy to use. Smooth, quiet, powerful, nice fence, two dust ports, nice!
Jointer: although only 8″wide this is one heavy duty rig and long. I’m working on getting the surface to slide better and had to ease some rough edges with sand paper. I’ll buff and wax the surface again but it does what it’s supposed to do with power to spare. Have to make sure other blast gates are closed to keep from clogging chips.
Planer: this one took some work but after making every adjustment possible and sharpening the blades it works beautifully although quite loud.
Drill press: lots of adjust-ability and a huge table. Don’t know that I need the 2 hp but have it in case.
Dust collector with pleated filter: much better suction than my bag filter unit of the same hp.
Now I’m saving for a shaper and power feed.
If you would like any more feed back on these machines, just ask.

Congratulations! That was a sweet deal for sure. Nice to see you have the space for all and don’t need the mobile stands. Speaking of which, I just purchased a JJP-12 and am in need of a mobile stand. Maybe one of yours would work and we could strike a deal?
Mobile bases
Bob,
These MB's I have are by Shop Fox and they start at about $60.00 on http://www.Grizzly.com .
Tell me your footprint size and weight requirement, I'll see what I can put together and get back to you with a price. Freight is going to be the killer. I'm in Washington State.

Nice buy, Bret. Or, should we say a "bear" of a buy, since it's Grizzly gear? ;-)
Oh, man, you got the good stuff! Congrats!!
FG,
Yes, I'm quite pleased.
That being said, I would advise that most Grizzly stuff requires a lot of fime tuning before good results are acheived. I would'nt reccomend Grizzly to some one not familiar with woodworking machinery or lacking in the ability to make the proper adjustments and or refinements. They may be dissapointed. There is a reason why the stuff is cheap.

The vast majority of tools will need fine-tuning, etc. What makes your haul so nice is you got the bigger of the various machines, and that's where Grizzly shines. People gotta learn sometime, somewhere, how to tune tools. My take on Grizzly is that one needs to find out which of their tools are good quality. Their 8"+ jointers, cabinet saws, 16"+ band saws (and the 14" are great for the $$-challenged hobbyist), and so forth.
Jamie, great buy -- Enjoy! I had several machines from Grizzly and been pleased with them, as well as the customer service when I needed a part.
Nice Day!
Bret, I would say you scored a great deal.
I own the 8" jointer and the 15" planer. Both were perfect out of the box and several years later still the same. No adjustments needed. Great tool value, the worst thing about new was the packing grease cleanup. I bought both of these with the Griz brand of spiral cutter heads. For the 15" planer that might be a smart ugrade for you, they are much quieter, and it is easy to change a few blades that get nicked. It just purrs through white oak.

That sounds like a great deal! Almost everything I have is Grizzly (I live in a town where they have a HUGE store & I can just buy direct). I have been very happy with everything. I have the table saw and the band saw you have, as well as the 2hp cyclone, and the 12" jointer/planer combo. Everything was ready to go right out of the crates (after clean-up of course). I plan to get more stuff from them eventually.
