Should Taunton produce a WWing calendar?
This is a tangent thread to Ken’s query about WWing calendars. Question is this: If Taunton produced a woodworking calendar for 2005 with wonderful pictures of tools, craftsmen in action, you know what I mean — something of high quality, could they sell enough to us and all the subscribers and counter-buyers of FWW and FHB?
I would love to have a calendar like this, but 10 minutes searching the internet and going to places like The Museum of Woodworking has produced zip.
I’d imagine the calendars would be somewhere in the $9.95-$14.95 range. How many would plunk down for one or put it on their gift-list??

Just thought of something -- wouldn't it be funny if they already do? Oops.

WoodenBoat magazine puts out a spectacular calender, so I think Taunton should too.
Namaste,

HI forestgirl , yes I would buy one, Lee vally put out a nice tool calender this year, and so did LIE-Nielsen, i agree FW should too.
How about a FWW calendar as a token of appreciation for our loyal subscriptions ?
Dear Radiant SunShine of the Forest.. Me thinks they should have a calendar & you should be on the Front Page wearing a Shop Apron & a Smile!!! plus your other shop attire..LMAO....

As long as I don't have to rely on you to choose the "other attire!" Actually, I wore a truly wonderful and elegant dress to Braden's wedding in August -- deep blue with gold thread accents throughout, long and flowing -- how would that look under an apron?!forestgirl -- you can take the girl out of the forest, but you can't take the forest out of the girl ;-)
Hey Great idea put you in your apron for miss january and Splints, Jencar and Tamara hey we got enough hotties here to produce one heck of a calender

Hey - I'm in BUT Molly and Sadie want to know if they can be in the picture too - they're girls too and they'd be more than happy to pose "au-naturel" - why they'd even do a wet t-shirt shot as they happily climb out of the lake with a tennis ball in their mouth! It's football time in Tennessee! Go Vols!!!!
Hey, Rob, sounds like a great choice for, say, the August pic!
Ya know, it really wouldn't be that difficult to actually pull this off! We could even get it done for 2004 -- those who want (or are forced, LOL) to participate get their pic of choice, send it to me (yes! I want all the power) and I can do a little "desktop publishing." Donations can be taken via PayPal. We would be the first, the very first, forum to have its own calendar.
Now, which important dates to emphasize:
Christmas/Hanukkah
Father's Day
Mother's Day
Grandparents' Day
Valentine's Day
Birthdays (free for those who pose; other Knotheads pay $1.00, LOL!)
Any other gift-giving opportunities I've missed??
Grizzly's Annual Sale (beginning and end) and their Tent Sales
Why, I can even see shipping it with a disc that has all the URLs of the best on-line places to shop! Wow! What a project.
Oh, oooops, did I fall asleep and have a weird dream or what?!forestgirl -- you can take the girl out of the forest, but you can't take the forest out of the girl ;-)

Oh dearest, prettiest, most desirable Girl of the Forest (isn't that a saw blade?)
If your going the full monty, DTP wise that is, what more important day is there than my birthday (and Sarge's, ToolDoc's, PlaneWood's, etc)
A personalised calendar with messages along the lines of – "find his/her favourite tool catalogue(s) look for hints" inserted one month before important dates like christmas, Mother's Day, Father's Day, the WW's birthday, the end of Lent (I give up buying tools for Lent) or time to get Nick's chain saw serviced and sharpened

Ian: Hey are you trying to sweet Talk our Little Buddy Jamie?? LOL... Better watch out cause she's more Wild than any of those critters you guys have in OZZ..hehehe

Hey Ian, didn't you see "Birthdays" in the list? You get yours listed for free if you "pose" LOL! $1 for the rest of the Knotheads....
Hadn't thought about a "hints" component -- Good idea!
Forest = moiForrest = saw blade The devil's in the details, LOL!forestgirl -- you can take the girl out of the forest, but you can't take the forest out of the girl ;-)
I'll bet these guys have gotten so "worked" up not a one of 'em has cut a piece of wood in days! Now which one of them is gonna' start a calendar for us gals - needless to say I don't think we want a chick-calendar on the wall of our shop!
Robin, Molly & Sadie (the Wonder Labs) - "I'll bet they'd want our pictures if they was boy Labs!"It's football time in Tennessee! Go Vols!!!!
I really like the way this is going! "Taunton Press' 'Girls of Woodworking 2004'" - an idea whose time has come.
I'd be happy to pose for a similar beefcake calendar, secure in the knowledge that nobody is going to want to use a picture of a grizzled old geezer with a big bypass scar down his chest! ROTFLMAO
ROB: Sorry NO Bow WowS in the calendar we only want scantly Clad gals in work aprons & Tool Belts.using Power tools..<G>...

I can see it now. The pictures would be the same as those on the back cover of FWW – or the ones that didn't make the cover.
More seriously, if the editors are lurking, I'd like a mixture of finished pieces, pieces under construction (say three or so shots as a piece evolves), and craftsmen at work or relaxing. For example, is Mike Dunbar a fisherman?
PS I'm from that transitional generation who consider most [...]men words as gender neutral.
oh wow! thanks for reminding me. Time to go to Texas Tool Traders and get their 2004 calendar!!!!!!!!!! ( I keep them hanging INSIDE one of my cabinet doors that faces away from the entrance door when open)
Hey, I'm retired! Why do I care what day it is! I quit wearing a watch 4 years ago. I may be retired, but I ain't dead - yet.
Come to think of it, I probably aught to get another calendar to hang on the other side of the cabinet door.
