At the Woodfair 2004 sponsored by College of the Redwoods where I had a rocking chair on display, I was asked if I could do one that rocked sideways. The lady had seen one on a trip one time but did not buy it. Now she would really like to have one and asked if I would investigate. She says it is much better for rocking infants. Any pictures, suggestions etc. would be appreciated.
Thanks,
Richard

I think I'd get seasick and ralph on the baby..lol
just turn the rockers 90* and adjust the arc for no "back tail" cus the seat angle is now not affecting the rebound to verticle.

Sphere,
It's interesting to think that if that motion would make an adult ill, what should we think the baby feels? After all, the baby is 90 degress to mom in the conventional chair. That was the exact point this mother was making.
Thanks for the input,
Richard
It most likely has to do with the undevolpment of the inner ear canals sensation of balance, toddlers seem to have such a grand time getting the hang of the first few steps..
Watch how they sway to an fro upon first standing, until that balance gets ,well, balanced..
What would cause a grown up motion sickness may be entirely comfortable to a youngin fresh outta the mommas jiggly belly..
