On the back cover of Feb 2020 issue No. 280, there is a short article about Danny Kamerath carving simple small birds. I’m wondering if there are any resources on how to get started with something like this? (And I’ll swear that I used to have an article or small book about this but can’t find now.)
Anyway, I’d appreciate any input. These look like a nice small project to work on indoors on a cold winter evening.
Thanks,
John

I'd like to hear more, too.
Just grab a knife and a block of wood and have at it. The fun is that it doesn't matter. That article was about the gift, not the craft. Dive in!
Caught my eye as well! I made on and will give it to my wife on this Valentines day 2020. #1 of ? I came across some very hard wood and gave up on the carving knife and went to a Dremel, the only way it was going to work. Thanks to Danny for the idea.
There are some good YouTube videos. Here is one:

do a couple searches on this topic and youtube will remember and give you more.
