Woodcraft is selling a bench top router table and router combo by Skil. Does anyone have any experience with this set up? Does it have its own router lift or is it just the supplied router base screwed to the top? They say that it’s top adjustable but they don’t say how.
I have a couple of router tables that I made already but they are big . I’m trying to do a shop readjustment to bring something else in. My shop is such that if something comes in something has to go out. I can store my router tables in one of my out buildings and retrieve them as needed but I also would like to have a router table handy that doesn’t occupy much space still in the shop. The price is right and the picture makes it appear to cover at least most of the bases. Does anyone have experience with this Skil set up. Skil has never been in the top of my list for great tools but woodcraft is pushing them lately and I’ve had 50 years of doing business with them without too many complaints.

After my last couple of experiences with Skil, I wouldn't touch it. Your mileage may vary.
About ten years ago I bought a Ryobi benchtop router and router table, which looks similar to the Skil. It was unusable within a week. Total crap.
Well, I always put Ryobi as a bottom feeder,so I'm not surprised. Skil has a hit and miss history. Their model 77 is an industry standard...every brand circular saw is referred to as a" Skil saw"! I have had a whole bunch of different portable table saws including a skil. ---Just to have an extra saw to drag around ,throw in the truck, saw in the rain, that kind of thing. Always bought the cheapest that was available at the time.Burned up every one- didn't matter what brand. I got what I wanted out of all of them.
The name is putting me off but you never know. I'm just wondering if someone does know. I ve had lots and lots of pneumatic nailers . SENCO ---best brand ,highest price and I've had better luck with nail guns of dubious origin and a fraction of the cost. Everything is coming out of the same factory in China anyway aren't they?
