I’m thinking about making a sleigh bed, and I’ve looked at the plans for a “quick” sleigh bed on this website.
What I don’t like is the flat headboard.
I saw the method of making curved panel doors in the most recent issue of FW woorking, and wonder if I could use this tecnique on the headboard.
Using a jointer tipped at precise angles to make the curve using solid pieces of wood.
Am I asking for big trouble?

Scott,
Two issues of FWW I know of contain articles on building sleigh beds. FWW #91 of a sleigh bed with curved headboard and footboard and FWW #124, a description of one Chris Becksvoort made with angled headboard and footboard. I did one a few years ago and manually bent two 1/4" pieces to have a 1/2" bending head and foot boards. There are easier ways and I think the article you refer on curved panel doors is a good possibility though I'm not sure about the tipped jointer.
Good luck,
Lar

Rob Hare, of NY, does one that way, of cherry, and it is beautiful. He had it at the Phila. Furn. and Furnishins show last weekend. He said it was his personal bed that he had brought down, along with other wonderful pieces. His legs are of iron, hand hammered, rustic, well shaped, and terriffic. I don't think hehas a web site. He is a member of the Furn. Society, and you could probably track him down thorough that site. He was a delight to talk with.
