I was checking out a very cool standing wardrobe/closet in Currant, a store that recently went out of business in Seattle, and it had a sliding door scheme were each of the two doors could be pulled out and slide in front of the other. When closed there is a flush surface; to open you pull on the door and it comes toward you a little bit, enough to clear the other door, and then it can be slid in front of the other door so that the drawers or hanging space can be accessed.
Has anyone seen any hardware commercially that can provide this capability? I contacted the manufacturer (I can’t remember the name now, some Italian comapany) and they told me it was all custom. But I was hoping someone here might know of something like this. The doors ran in tracks on top of the wardrobe.
Any thoughts?

Jeff--Check in the Rockler catalog. Would check for you, but mine is not handy right now.

Jeff, I'm not familiar with the setup you describe, but IMHO Rockler is too DIY-oriented to be of much help here. Try a major league manufacturer of door hardware like Hafele:

Jeff:
If you want it quick, go to your local Home Depot or Lowes. Both will carry the hardware you need.
At Home Depot look for: product by Ives, or Stanely
At Lowes look for product by Liberty or National
Good luck
Thank you,
