Hi Gang,
I’m considering the purchase of the Excalibur sliding table for my PM66, to faciliate plywood cross-cuts. I’ve heard that it is pricey and tough to install, maybe requiring mods to the left wing. Anybody been through this?
Thanks! Enjoy those turkey sandwiches this week……

HPS126 that is just what you need.
Thanks for your reply. It is out of my price range by a wide margin, but an awesome tool for sure. Time to build some more wing and outfeed tables...

lucky you! PM66 is supposedly the BEST cabinet saw out there right now!
I just bought a used Excalibur for my unisaw and it is great. It was pre asssembled though, all I had to do was bolt it on and level and tweak it.
Seeing the table first hand i dont think it would be to bad to do from scratch. Definetly a 2 man operation. But then you are cutting full sheets w/ 1 man.
I must be old-fashioned. Or maybe it's the difference between amateur and pro; but I swear by my shopmade crosscut sled. It's dead-on square, cuts any width plank I've ever needed cut, and takes up zero extra footprint in my small shop.
That said, I've never tried to crosscut a 96" x 24" piece - but I don't see why it would be a problem. I built the thing 7 years ago, it cost close to nothing (maybe $30?), and with a length of about 36", has the stability to accurately square up long pieces with ease.
I'd much rather spend my dollars on the better tool than on accessories that clearly add convenience, but the utility of which can be obtained in a shopmade jig.
P.S. - If I were making a new crosscut sled today, I'd use UHMW for the runners - they're "self-lubricating" and provide a tight but smooth-running fit.
