I’m on vacation for the next three months and I am itching for a little project to do. I decided to make a new entertainment center for my play room that will only have two shelves probably and not stand to tall off the ground. Does anyone have any plans or design ideas for me to tackle. I am not sure where I want to go with it so any designs would be welcomed. I think my wood choice is going to be Spanish Cedar and Soft Maple. Thanks in advance for any suggestions.

I'd be a liitle cautious with Spanish cedar in the vicinity of plastics (such as CDs/DVDs, equipment cases, etc.) and some metals, too. That nice smell comes from a volatile oil that reacts with plastics, possibly softening them, and can also tarnish brass, copper, etc.

This is the 1st I've heard about a volatile oil in Spanish Cedar that reacts with plastics. Is PVC included on the list of plastics? I was thinking of using these footings with Spanish Cedar.http://www.redifooting.com/Greg

PVC is probably one of the most susceptible, along with polystyrene. Polyethylene and polypropylene (and polytetrafluoroethylene--Teflon) are mostly immune. But it's really only a problem in a confined area. There shouldn't be any problem outdoors.

I just installed a repeater in a client's home. It works great.
