I don’t know why, but I love older WW tools.
I stopped in the local thrift store at noon. They have a small woodworking planer for $30.
It’s an IIDA brand FX-120 planer. Kind of a different design, looks older, but seemed in good shape. the planer head is cantilevered off one side, and raises on 2 1.5″ steel posts. Had a depth of cut of about 2.5″ and a width of about 6-8″. One side was open, so you could run a board through both ways and do 12″ or better. Kind of like a surface sander works. The cutterhead was about 3″ dia. with 3 knives. It was small, the base was enclosed. I’d assume it was belt driven from a motor in the base, but couldn’t really tell.
Does anyone know anything about these machines?? I’m curious. Don’t really need it, and probably couldn’t get knives for it, but it was well built, and seemed well cared for. Might be worth getting back into service.
Only site I know to go look is www.oldwwmachines.com, but they’re site isn’t responding today, any other sources??

Bill,
IIDA has a web site http://www.iidakg.com. You should be able to find contact information there to contact the company directly.
