Small lathe dust collection and other
I am thinking of getting a midi lathe (Rikon most likely) and have questons about dust collection and about using it on a bench. How big of a colletor do I need with a small lathe and a short (less then4 feet) hose? Should the bench be isolated from the surrounding walls or can I place the lathe on a bench I have that is mounted along one wall? Would the vibration from the lathe rattle and perhaps cause to fall hand tools hanging on the wall?
Thanks

J,
My mini Jet was on a roll-around cabinet with locking castors. I liked it because I could easily clean under it using my dust collector as a shop vac. If you are going to be rough turning pieces that are way off balance then you are very likely to get a great deal of shaking.
It sounds like you might be new to turning - welcome to the passion. Here is a web site you might enjoy. http://www.forums.woodnet.net/ubbthreads/ubbthreads.php
