Snipe on a DW735, and taking it apart to fix it.
My DW735 on the last project started sniping badly, along with having a visible difference in width from side to side of the board. Anyone with experience fixing such a problem? I thought perhaps it is related to the springs etc on the posts that the planer body rides on. But I’m not exactly sure how the planer “locks” down. I’ve started disassembly, but going slowly until I can find some hints and tips of what I’m looking for in worn parts or ?

Sorry about your problem. I have one and it works great. But it does show a very small amount of snipe on long 'sticks' if the overhang is not properly supported. All planers shave 'some' snipe.

I think you can get other documation if you register.
I know of a commercial shop that uses his 735 daily. He had similar problems and found the the down pressure springs weakened. He changed the springs and fixed the problem. The springs are small(size of a pencil eraser)
I found that the springs were fine. (and certainly much larger than a pencil eraser)
What WAS the problem was the bearing blocks had wallowed out very badly!
The second one shows the massive about galling in the bearing face.

Replacement is a simple matter and about $6.00 each from the local Dewalt service center.
