…and my wife says I can get out of the paint everything bright white phase I’ve been in for years. Heres the question– Does crown mold get painted celing color (yeah white…but off white) or wall color? (kind of a beige, but more to the yellow side) Both colors have nice warm tones…or does it really matter? I’m kinda leaning towards the ceiling color. Thanks in advance.

All our walls are in latex decorator colors (blue, rose, green, macadamia) and I painted the crown I installed with pure white oil based paint. The ceilings are an off-white, egg shell, color. Looks nice, but you gotta decide for yourself. My daughter has an art degree and she picked out all the colors.
I did prime and double coat the crown first using a spray gun before cutting & installing. Then it was just touch up for nail holes, etc after it was installed.
In my opinion, you want to call attention to crown molding.

If you have tall ceilings (9'+) go with the wall color or white - your preference.
If you have short ceilings (8') go with the ceiling color only.
The white will make the room feel bigger. The wall color on an 8' ceiling will actually close the room up and make it feel smaller.

Like any decorating... Anything goes if YOU like it...
I have seen crown molding and other moldings that was (were?) (can't think of the right word) Well, a contrast but in the same color family as the walls and celing.. Looked REALLY nice but 'stands out' so you need GOOD moldings and nice joints...
I love to walk into a room that is 'Different'.. But just me ...
EDIT: I forgot... These days you can get little packets of paint products for a dollar or so... You paint some place like in a corner and decide what you like.. Take a bit od 'cover-up' but you get a idea of the look!

Jimmy ,
We just got back from street of your dreams in Portland Oregon and toured 8 homes that were all over 2 million each . There was lots of large crown moldings , what I noticed there were few white walls in these homes , but the ceilings were typically white or off white in a eggshell or satin and the crown moldings were white glossy . The higher gloss really made the moldings stand out .
good luck dusty
Thanks all. Decided to do the crown the ceiling color in gloss. Should look fine. Again, thanks.
