Since I can’t find a way to contact whoever manages this forum, I’ll throw out my question and hope for the best.
For the last couple of days, I haven’t been able to post pictures on Knots (or any of the other Taunton forums). I’ve been posting pictures for over a year, but when I try now, nothing happens.
I recently upgraded my Norton Internet Security so that may be the culprit, but when I go through the Norton menus I can’t find anything that might cause this problem (not that I would recognize it, anyway – lol)
Anybody have suggestions?
Thanks

You take up server space when you post pictures. The host for the site limits each member to a specific amount of server space. When I've exceeded my small alloted space, I've gotten an error message that told me to delete files to free up space for the pictures I was uploading.
Not being willing to invest hours of time figuring all of this out, I gave up and the system seems to have automatically deleted some old pics because I've since been able to post newer ones.
Perhaps the webmaster could address this.
Hello Dave,
The most likely culprit is the new security software that you installed, Specifically Pop up blockers. Try turning off any Pop up blockers and see if that helps, it should. If it doesn't let me know.
As far as being able to get in touch with admin folks here, there is 2 ways. First would be to post a question directly to me, SYSOP the other method is to send an email to [email protected].
Let me know how you make out. -MarkSYSOP[email protected]Have you updated your forum profile lately? Please Do!

I just turned off the Norton Popup Blocker and I seem to be back in business. This pic is of a kitchen cabinet I'm making.
While I'm at it, can you tell me why this forum doesn't automatically re-size pictures. It's a real PITA to have to re-size them - or remember which pics have been re-sized for posting here.

It usually is a pop up blocker.Glad it is working for you now.
Nice cab by the way, as far as having the forum automatically resize that would be the first request I have ever gotten for that. Are there other forums that you frequent that do that? I would be interested to know the answer to that.
As always if you need something from me post a question or email me directly. [email protected] -MSYSOP[email protected]Have you updated your forum profile lately? Please Do!

This is the only forum I post pictures to. The others seem way to complicated for my alleged mind.
I'm putting your email link into my address book for possible future use but posting these questions in an open forum may be useful to someone else.
I just hope that allowing popups doesn't result in ambush ads for various pharmacutical products, male enhancement pills, or offers to help some poor Nigerian move his funds to the U.S. - lol
Thanks
Dave (the other one)
Most popup blockers allow the user to choose to allow a popup by pressing the ctrl key or the shift key when clicking on a link. You need to do this when you're looking at an amazon picture of a tool or a price list or many other things. You can allow one popup without allowing all popups. This info should be buried somewhere in the help section on your menu.
"I just hope that allowing popups doesn't result in ambush ads for various pharmacutical products, male enhancement pills, or offers to help some poor Nigerian move his funds to the U.S. - lol" Yikes! Don't turn off your PU blocker completely! There will be a way to add specific sites to your "allowed" list. Do a little looking in the help section.
My primary PU blocker is my Earthlink program. There is simply an arrow next to the PopUp Blocker icon -- I click that, and select "Add this site to my Allow List" from the drop-down menu.forestgirl -- you can take the girl out of the forest, but you can't take the forest out of the girl ;-)Another proud member of the "I Rocked With ToolDoc Club" .... :>)
"or remember which pics have been re-sized for posting here" I have a new system wherein I attach a z to the title of any web-sized picture, e.g., MyNewTable_z.jpg. It helps me keep things thraight.forestgirl -- you can take the girl out of the forest, but you can't take the forest out of the girl ;-)Another proud member of the "I Rocked With ToolDoc Club" .... :>)

Why didn't I think of that??? The engineer in me was trying to develop a really complicated plan. - lol
One technique for resizing pictures quickly, but I haven't tried it, would be to email them to yourself. With my HP software, the program asks if I want the pictures to be resized, and gives me 3 options.
My favorite for this kinda stuff, though, is Jasc Paint Shop Photo Album. I can selected any number of thumbnails (as a group) and batch-resize them. They get resized and renamed separately from the originals. Takes about 5 seconds.forestgirl -- you can take the girl out of the forest, but you can't take the forest out of the girl ;-)Another proud member of the "I Rocked With ToolDoc Club" .... :>)
If you're using Windows XP this is about the easiest thing around for resizing pictures. This is Microsofts free 'powertoys' page for Windows XP. The image resizer powertoy on this page couldn't be simpler. You can do one or multiple pics just by right-clicking on the file in Explorer. It adds the word 'small/medium/large' to the file name depending on which size you chose to shrink to. It ONLY does pic resizing, so if you need to crop or adjust color/brightness/etc, it's not the right tool.

The instructions are a single page long located at

Man, that is kewel!!!
Thanks
telemiketoo,
The image allocation space is a forum wide space and individual users should never be blocked from posting because of space limitations. If that happens again please let me know so that I can look into it further for you. -MarkSYSOP[email protected]Have you updated your forum profile lately? Please Do!
For the last couple of days, I haven't been able to post pictures on Knots (or any of the other Taunton forums). Till I put my picture on there?
