Hi,
I am a custom woodworker from the Northeast and I am in the middle of developing a software that will help 3D Modelers manage the data associated with there projects. This web based software will work along side programs like Revit, Sketchup, Rhino, Maya, Blender, etc..
These 3D modeling programs give us an amazing amount of control and speed when it comes to the design and engineering of our work. We can render beautiful images for approvals or construction documents but they lack the ability to give us the information we need to estimate, order, fabricate, etc…
The software I am working on will allow you to connect your model to a database of pre defined attributes (like cost, weight, vendor) and report the data in any way you need. The reports I am focusing on now are Cost Estimates, Purchase Orders, and Work Orders. Soon I want to output BOM Sheets, Cut Lists, Weight calculations, etc…
I am looking for a specific partner to help bring this to market. I have enough tech minded people around me. Im looking for someone that can help with the business and marketing side but this person must have a passion and understanding of woodworking (you don’t have to be good at it!). This is the missing ingredient to this project.
Please respond and leave an email address for me to contact you privately. I can go into a lot more detail about the program and myself.
Thanks

If you don't find someone here, you may have better luck on Sawmill Creek. Also try the MA woodworkers guild--they'll be able to point you in the right direction. https://www.emgw.org/
It sounds like you're looking for actual professionals with deep knowledge of and in the trade. I'd inquire at North Bennett Street School (https://www.nbss.edu/) (Boston), Furniture Institute of Massachusetts (http://furnituremakingclasses.com/) (Beverly), or contact someone like Bob at MassWoodworks (http://masswoodworks.com/) (Charlestown). MassArt also has a decent program, as does RISD in Providence and the Connecticut Valley School.
I think you'll need to elaborate a bit more on what type of knowledge and experience you're seeking--custom cabinetry (e.g. kitchens and built-ins where the $$ is) or more custom furniture--and who the ideal end customer is.
Thanks for the reply.
Im very aware of all of these institutions. I actually graduated from one of them.
Professionally I work everyday with many woodworkers, cabinetmakers, carpenters, and boat builders. I live and see the inefficiencies in custom design/build.
I have been working with a very talented group of software developers on this project since last year. I have also been working with tech and business consultants along the way. I believe we have a validated idea and plan on paper. Next is to create an MVP.
The type of person or people I am looking for at this point is someone that understands this project #1 and has the ability to help bring it to market #2. #3 would be a financial involvement but only as a sign of commitment to the goal. Its like finding a needle in 1 million haystacks!
I am willing to go into more detail with people that are seriously interested.
Thanks
I wish you good luck with your project!
I've worked with Rhino and could say it is an amazing software. And I'm sure your program will be as good as it (and even better, of course :)).
Good luck with your software..
Seems interesting.
Seems really nice
I would love to help you out.
I'm a avid woodworker and a software developer with 30+ years in Manufacturing and Product Lifecycle Management (nee PDM) experience using a software called Teamcenter (now owned by Siemens)
I am reluctant to post a public email address here but if you post an address I'll gladly reply.
I'm not looking for a business relationship as I am retiring this year but will gladly share with you my thoughts on your endeavor.
