I need to make a face of a dome, but rather a curve into a bowl shape about 3 feet high, solid 1″ wood. I want to carve it. I thought that I need to cut up many small pieces the same size, with an angle cut on all 4 sides, glue them together off-set in rows like bricks (maybe with biscuits), and plane by hand. Is there a math resource for this for woodworkers to figure out the lengths and angles needed to make the desired curve.
Anyone have experiene with solid wood domes. Is any of this right?

Angles
Tage frid's book has calculations for that kind of assembly. Not sure what you're trying to build - can you be more specific ?
