I am getting ready to add solid wood edging to plywood for the first time. I have your book on joinery and your explain how to do it. I would like to use the tongue and groove approach. But nowhere can I find any indication on how deep the groove/length of tongue. If pertinent, I am using red oak and red oak veneer plywood, both 3/4″ thick.
Thanks

Hi,
Keep the tongue small, maybe 3/16" deep and not too wide, 1/4" at the widest. The only purpose of the tongue is to help line things up. Well it also gives you some more gluing surface but this isn't really necessary. It's the indexing of tongue to groove that makes this worthwhile. Good luck. Gary
