Anybody go to the show today? I am thinking about going on Sunday and wanted some feedback from anyone who went today.
Thanks,
Wolfman

I went this afternoon.
I can't really say anything positive about it other than the two folks at the Lie Neilsen booth were both very nice. The Lee Valley folks were a close second. Other than getting to fondle some of planes (and to do so you had to shove your way forward) I thought the show was a waste of time. I couldn't find any of the things I was searching out (a decent marking knife, a 6" starrett combo-square and a set of brad point bits).
It was my first show so I have nothing to compare it to, but if that's the norm I think it may also be my last.
My two cents...

UH-oh,
That was the impression I had the last time I went, I thought maybe this year it will be better. The advertisement I rec'd in the mail "looked" as though maybe someone was working at putting together a better show. I was planning to go on sunday also, well, lets see .

I went yesterday afternoon... I went last year as well and was disappointed. After looking at this year's flyer and seeing that Lie Nielsen would be in attendance I'd figure I'd give it a shot. I wanted to compare their medium shoulder plane to that offerd by Lee Valley. Being that the two booths are side by side, it was easy. The Lee Valley actually felt better in my (left) hand than the Lie Nielsen so I went with that. Just for that reason, it was worth it. I took a half day to browse with an anticipated low crowd volume. Last year on Saturday it was not that busy so I figured I could get a lot of personal attention on a light Friday. I was very wrong. The crowd was huge yesterday. I had to wait 15 to 20 minutes to purchase some chisels etc. from Lie Nielsen. That said, I did save 10% and got free shipping for items they did not have on hand. I thought it was worth the 1 hour drive.
Thanks for the replies. I also have been disappointed in the past, but haven't been to the show for two years. I think I'll go to kill some time and spend the money thats burning a hole in my pocket. I'm sure I'll find something. Glad to hear both LN and LV were there, that will be interesting to see.
