I’m using some of the 10mm, single barrel Soss hinges and thought I’d pass this on. If you’ve ever used them you know there is no adjustment and really not a way to check the alignment and depth. I’m making a couple of small cases which have routed/carved recesses in them. These take a lot of time and are done after drilling the holes for the hinge. Since I’d rather find out that my holes are off before I do all of the work I decided to take a pair of them and reduce the diameter ever so slightly. I chucked a sanding drum into the drill press and slowly rotated the hinge between my thumb and pointer finger checking often to check the fit. This work very well, I can use this “checker pair” of hinges to not only check the fit but also to sand the entire case so that it’s all flush and even.
Here’s my question having never used them before. Should I put the optional screw into the other side of the hinge? These are fairly light carrying cases and I don’t want the hinge to pull loose through normal usage.
Thanks for any advice and hope someone can use this hint.

Well Done
Thanks for the tip. I can not advise on the screw in your particular project. Not much experience with these.
