Hello all.
I am curious to know if anyone has experience with Soss invisible hinges. I want to hang two frame and panel doors that are made from red oak. Each of them weighs about nine pounds. They are about 19 inches wide and 36 inches tall. The frame is one half inch wide, so the biggest Soss hinge I can use is about 3/8 inch wide. (model #101C-US4) The directions say for “small or large applications such as hutches, cupboards, etc.” No weight limit is mentioned on the package. The doors will be inset, so an even reveal all the way around is important to me. I don’t want them to sag over time. Will these hinges be strong enough? Would a third hinge on each door be smart? (at $17 per set, I’d rather not put them on unless necessary.) Thanks.

I've had nothing but success using Soss hinges. I would recommend that you also purchase the jig to router out for the hinge, it's very user friendly. I've used Soss hinges on a pair of doors to an entertainment center. The glass doors were roughly 18 X 36 inches, the glass was framed with Red Oak. Sorry, but I don't recall how much these doors weighed.
If you are so worried about movement have you checked out Blum Hinges which are very adjustable?
I've used them many times on many things, and I've found them to be bullet proof. They have stood the test of time also. My first project with them is about 15 years old, and still perfectly alinged. I've also used the brass barrel hinges that you see in some of the magazines. While setting them up is a little tough, I've had very good results with them as well. They don't look real sturdy, but they are. All my projects that used these hinges were flush doors.
