All,
Coming to this forum is like being a squatter in an abandoned building. A few other kindred spirits here and there, an occasional voice echoes down the dark hallway, “Hello?… ello? …llo? …o? ..o? .. ?.. ? “. Big cheeky, greasy rats scurrying all over the place, underfoot, in the rooms upstairs, crapping all over the furniture.
Landlord stopped by once, stuck his head in the door and took a look around, “We need an exterminator.”
Sad.

Sad indeed.
The latest text-box impediment has pretty much killed it for me, even though I've tried to remain positive and supportive since the software change.
A very effective analogy.
I don't see what's so hard about booting the greasy rat off the forum. Do these guys even have control over their own website? Maybe they're waiting for his 14 day free trial to expire so they can charge him and then boot him. Of course the credit card info he provided is probably stolen anyway. The text impediment is probably the least effective way I can imagine for dealing with this guy. It obviously hasn't slowed him down in the least.
He doesn't need a trial or anything, Knots is free.
They seem to be trying to control posts without doing the obvious thing which is to have someone, even a half way intelligent intern, read the posts. For example, calling out threads to the home page, including obvious spam, shows no person actually reads. If Taunton were a public company that I was analyzing, the way this site has been dealt with would be a red flag making me think something bad, like a Chapter filing was approaching. I'd surely be reading ALL the footnotes and appendices in the financial filings.
A dying quail
Steve,
It's also worth noting that the "latest site updates" occurred on March 12. That was March 12, 2010.
Knots looks to be a resource that is not valued by Taunton, and is therefore not deemed worth putting time into. And that's a shame because it is such a logical tie-in with the magazine..
